Changes

This week I embarked on a change in diet. It is not a "diet" but rather a lifestyle change in eating habits. It was about 3 months ago that a friend and former co-worker, Kim, posted on Facebook that she was making a change in her way of gaining nutrition. She said it was because she was feeling less energy from day to day (Kim is a very busy lady with all she does work wise) and she also was not happy with the way her body was shaping up. I can say that I never thought looking at her that she was having body issues, but like a lot of us loose clothes will do the trick to hide a good number of things. I chatted off line with her a bit and then started to follow her progress as she shared it over the next few weeks.

I also started to read the online material from the company, Isagenix, and also did some searches for independent observations about their products and business plan. Kim was not quite finished her 30 day start up and was feeling so good about it she was not going to take advantage of their money back offer if a user is unsatisfied with the results. She invited me to participate in an online Facebook "conference" and it was quite a riot trying to keep up with the messaging, watch the presenters and answer all the skill testing questions. I asked some questions that would be pertinent to my involvement, if I chose to get involved, and ones related to my wife, Judy.

The next day I got on a conference call with Kim, Micheal and Luisa. More questions, more answers and finally a decision that I would like to present some data and documents to my doctor before seriously considering getting going. Judy decided she wanted to start and a few days later her starter kit came to the door. As of now, she is just completing her sixth week. During these six weeks Judy has had a number of questions about her response to these changes and Michael and Kim have been great to connect with her by conference calls, give her motivation and ideas. I can see some major differences happening for her and a number of her annoyingly small medical issues have disappeared. My doctor's appointment had to be cancelled for a week or so and when I did see him he said he could see no issues with my participation.

I had a few more questions and spoke on the phone with Michael and Kim, then had Kim put in my order. The 30 day package arrived yesterday and so I am two days into the plan. Obviously two days isn't going to see much change, but my eating habits are already improved as both yesterday and today, three meals are in the plan replacing my long time habit of toast and coffee for breakfast, nothing or a sandwich for lunch and then a pretty reasonable dinner. I have also (temporarily LOL) cut alcohol from my diet although the program does not require that I do this. I did discuss with Michael that I will be on the program 100% for 9 days and then am off with a group of friends on a golf trip for a week and then with Judy and three other couples at a VRBO in Naramata, wine shopping and drinking and eating some good food. For that two weeks I will take some product with me and work at trying to be conscious of what I consume. Then, in mid June I will be back on track with the program again. So, the purpose of this blog entry is to tell my little blog world - if anyone is actually still reading since it has been a while since I last posted. And it will provide me with a bit of a journal of my successes. I know I will have some. When I cruise in the Caribbean in October, my body will be different.
